The little things...

"Enjoy the little things...
for one day you'll look back
and realize they were the big things."

Spider Reese!

Reese - "I can eat a whole pear all by myself!
And mommy loved cleaning up the mess when I was finished!"

I'm in love with this laughing smile!

Reese likes to play underneath our glass table and look up at us...she's so cute. Cleaning up the underneath side of my table...not so cute.

Like mom, like baby...

Today Reese got her first pair of pink converse...it just so happens that they are the same color as my first pair of converse. Twenty-two years ago, 1986, 7th grade. Converse were so popular and I thought I was so cool!

2 years ago today!

It seems like yesterday, but for all the right reasons...it also feels like a lifetime ago. I can't image what my life was like before. Happy Anniversary!

A new calling...

Today I received a new calling. I'm now the Coordinator for the Jr. Nursery. I know to most this is the dreaded calling, but I have to say I'm so excited. Reese absolutely loved it in nursery today. She hardly knew I was in the room. There were only a couple times that she even sought me out and wanted me to hold her. After a minute or two with me, she was off to play some more.

This new calling is really a blessing. Reese has become so active in church. It's right in the middle of her nap time and she refuses to sleep anywhere but in her crib. She won't sit still in our classes, so we end up in the hallway. But with not very many toys and no one to play with, she gets really bored and cranky. We've been taking turns leaving church to go home and put her to sleep. Now that I am in nursery, she has a lot of playmates, toys and activities. She loves all the other kids, in fact many or her neighborhood friends are in nursery with us. Reese is also the same size as most of them, so she can really hold her own. It's pretty fun to see her playing.

This is a good calling for me right now!

Sunday Photo Shoot

Reese looked really pretty in her dress today. She always looks good in bright colors. We tried to get a few pictures, but she really wasn't cooperating. I ended up with a lot of great "indirect" photo's, not too many of her looking at the camera. Her dad was able to catch some "direct" ones, but it takes me awhile to get them from his work camera. I'll have to post more later.

Our first Orem Fest!

It almost didn't happen. We've had such crazy rain the last week. At 3 p.m. today we were supposed to leave, but it was pouring rain. Then by 3:30 p.m. the clouds started to break and the sun decided to shine a little bit of light. So we headed downtown with our friends the Gardner's, for some soggy carnival fun.

(Reese loved her first carousel ride. She was having so much fun,
she started head banging with excitement and hit her head on the pole.
She was laughing and crying at the same time.)

(The first sticky goodness of cotton candy.
She couldn't figure out why it was stuck to her hands.)

(Tyler Gardner enjoying a yummy snow cone.)

(We all tried out the "BIG" slide. Tyler wasn't sure what to think.
I love the look of complete shock. He's still trying to decide...
was that fun, or terrifying? Kids are so funny.)

(Ok Iliana, don't hate me for posting this picture.
You and Gavin were so cute coming down the slide. Gavin loved it!)

(Dave and Tyler on his second ride down.)

(Now it's Reese and Mommy's turn. I think Reese was just in shock the whole time. We never got a smile, but we never got a cry either. I think if we had gone down a second time, she would have smiled the whole way. I mean so far she shows all signs that she's a Nordfelt daredevil, like her mom.)

Fun with the Bunker boys!

We live in the best neighborhood! It is full of kids, really great kids. No matter the age or gender, they all seem to get along and play together so well. Reese has been very lucky to have so many friends. They are all so nice to her, even the older kids.

Tonight she got to play with Hudson and Holden Bunker. They are so sweet to Reese and love to play with her.

Reese obviously doesn't have a bike like all the older kids. So Arnold got out her infant stroller-base, and she had a blast standing in it while Hudson and Holden took turns pushing her around. She was squealing with excitement.

Thanks Hudson and Holden, for being such good friends to Reese! She really loves you guys.

(Hudson showing us one of his Karate stances.)

We have always said we want our own pool...

This wasn't what I had in mind, but Reese sure loves it. We couldn't resist buying Reese this pool today. It was only $5 and I had a $2 off coupon. I mean...that's too good to pass up for some great baby summer fun.

(When Reese was done...don't you worry, she figured out how to escape.)

(Check out that face. She did not want to go inside.)

Such a big helper?

I was putting away the groceries and Reese was "helping" me. I turned my back for just a minute and she had climbed into the fridge. She is so funny!

On another note, Reese hates sitting in the front of shopping carts now. She insists on standing up in the back. She thinks she such a big kid. What happened to my baby??

Way too early...

I had to be at Seven Peaks this morning at 5:30 a.m. Big Budha from Fox 13 was at the park broadcasting live for morning news. (Seven Peaks is one of my clients.) It was way too early and way to cold to be at a water park, but the kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Utah County sure had a great time. They had so much fun, you never would have guessed how cold it was.

(You can't really tell, but this picture is Budah being pushed into the water by the kids. We set it up for a live shot. Shortly after this shot, I pulled Budah's son out of the water. He's 4 years old and can't swim. He had gotten into the deep end and started panicking. The life guards hadn't noticed, so I pulled him out.)

(This is Budah going down the free fall slide. Or the "Free Enema" as I like to call it. Budah couldn't keep is legs together...he was a little sore when it was over. LOL)

I can feed myself...

Reese loves to feed herself. It's getting more and more difficult for me to feed her. If she can't feel it, touch it, and put it in her mouth all by herself, she's not very happy. But the good news is that she is getting quite good and feeding herself and eating more whole foods. Tonight I cut up the baked ziti we were eating into small pieces and she ate almost all of it. After that she devoured 3 slices of apple I cut up. As you can see, she gets a kick out of eating all by herself.

9 month stats

Reese had her 9 month appointment today. She's definitely leveling out a little. At 6 months she was off the charts in height and weight, well she's back on the charts. She's still at the top though.

Height - 29.5 in. 95%
Weight - 21.5 lbs. 85%
Head - 17.8 in. 83%

Because of her size and advanced development her pediatrician also recommended that we go ahead and put her into a forward facing car seat, and that in the next few weeks we should start weaning her off her formula and onto whole milk. That kind of surprised me, but he thinks her development is closer to a 1 year old, so he thinks she's ready. Crazy! Time is going way too fast.

Her first bling!

Reese got her ears pierced today! We went to the mall with all the girls, and Uncle Kit, for the momentous occasion. She looks so cute. Hopefully there will be no mistaking her for a boy now. I feel like she looks so girly and I always dress her girly, but you would be surprised how many people come up to me and say, "What a cute little boy you have." I think to myself...are you blind or retarded. She is obviously a girl. I wouldn't dress my son in pink or ruffles. Oh well.

Reese and Mommy before the piercing.

Marking the holes.

Reese cried for a minute, but the lolly pop cured everything. Look at those cute ears!

This just so happens to be her first lolly pop. In five minutes she had sticky slobber everywhere. It was one good lolly pop.

Riley, Mom, Reese, & Mycol. It seems like yesterday that they got their ears pierced. Boy does time fly.

After the piercing we went to lunch in the food court. Riley shared her milkshake with Reese and REALLY made everything all better!

I love Reese's expression in this shot. That is one good milkshake!
